Your first dental visit
Your comfort and satisfaction are important from the get-go—and that starts here, with an explanation of what you can expect at your first dental visit to our dental.
- We’re always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your first dentist visit—just call or email us.
Hellos and paperwork
In the waiting room, you will be greeted by your Patient Service Representative who will get you started on your new patient paperwork.
- Please come in 15 minutes before your appointment so you have time to complete your paperwork.
Initial comprehensive exam & X-rays
The dentist will perform a complete oral examination and discuss any treatment you may need. The examination can identify conditions such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, and even oral cancer.
A teeth cleaning most likely will be performed during your first visit, or might be scheduled for a follow-up visit depending on the condition of your teeth and gums. Your first appointment will take between 1 to 2 hours. Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
To make your visit as pleasant and brief as possible, there are a few things you should bring with you. If you’ve had digital x-rays in the last six months, please bring them to your first appointment or kindly have them forwarded to our office. New digital x-rays will be taken, if you don’t already have them.
With just a few simple forms, we’ll ask for relevant medical history, any medications you might be taking, your dental history, and any dental insurance coverage you may have. Want to get a head start?
Sit down with your dental team
Your dentist will discuss the comprehensive dental treatment plan he or she developed specifically for you. While your dentist will provide the guidance you deserve, your questions are always welcome and you always have the final say in your treatment.
Your treatment plan is designed to prevent small issues from getting bigger and more expensive, so it will address the problems that are bothering you now and may also identify others that could impact your long-term oral health.
You’re on your way to a healthier mouth
If you have any questions or if there’s anything you don’t understand, please call—we want to make sure you understand and feel comfortable with your recommended treatment.
